By submitting this form,
I am requesting a non-domestic meter and understand that this water will not be returned to the
wastewater system. Examples of allowable uses for this non-domestic meter include the following:
landscape watering; swimming pool and ornamental fountains; hose bibs for washing vehicles, boats,
and docks; and ice machines.
I agree to pay the current fees due for this non-domestic meter.
I understand that the plumbing connected to this meter must meet Florida Plumbing Code, Section
608.16.5, including installation of the appropriate backflow device to protect the public water supply
from contamination, and the meter will not be turned on until such device has been installed. Please
consult with a licensed plumbing contractor if you have any questions about the required backflow device.
Important Note: The two most common backflow devices required for irrigation systems
are either a Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB) or Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) assembly.
PVBs provide sufficient protection for irrigation systems that do not have pumps,
chemicals, or connections to a pool autofill or other alternate water supplies, but they
must be installed 12 inches above the highest outlet and piping. Often it is not practical
to have a PBV installed above your hose bibs, raised sprinkler heads, outdoor shower,
etc., so a RPZ becomes the next available option. Knowing which backflow device is
appropriate for your system can save you time, money, and hassle.
